The Golden State is known for its singer/songwriters, so it’s no surprise that our Stay Golden playlist is packed with up-and-coming troubadours who are paving their own path. LA’s Emily James will be releasing her Wanted You to Know, Pt. 1 EP next Friday, which features one of our favorite playlist additions, the soothing “that’d be alright.” Twenty-three-year-old Jensen McRae, lauded by radio icon Anne Litt as one of KCRW’s “Artists to Watch” in 2021, is a rising star we love and has been included in #YOUTUBEBLACK Voices Artist Class of 2021. We’re featuring her latest single, “Immune,” off her forthcoming LP. Also spinning in this week’s Mood is a live version of “Lucky” from pop songstress Njomza, Craig Strickland’s acoustic ballad “While We Wait For The Sun To Rise,” and 16-year-old phenom Willa Amai, whose “Ocean” has been making waves at MTV since its release earlier this month.
